The Foundation's Centers have had since their inception (first, in 1973, the Italian-German Historical Institute, then in 1975 the Institute for Religious Studies) a Library physically divided into a Humanities section and a Scientific section.
In its development, the library holdings reflect the most important lines of research and projects of individual centers over the years.
