With a view to increasing the internationalization of its staff, the Bruno Kessler Foundation, aligning itself with the major international research centers, has adopted the tenure track tool aimed at identifying and offering a qualifying, motivating and structured path that is recognized and recognizable within the scientific community.

The tenure track is a type of contract that indicates a path (track) aimed at achieving a permanent position (tenure). The purpose of the tenure track is to offer excellent male and female researchers the opportunity to embark on a transparent, formalized, structured career path aimed at directing the tenure-track researcher to the consolidation of those skills necessary to become a tenured researcher, i.e., a stable researcher.

The Tenure Track

The Tenure Track recruitment and evaluation process contemplates the following steps: public call or internal selection call, access selection and evaluation, definition and initiation of the evaluation track, and final verification.

The entire tenure track process must be reflected in the principles of the Researcher cards. The tenure track process, moreover, must be punctually and properly documented and tracked and can include moments of open discussion both with the Bruno Kessler Foundation's scientific community and with all its stakeholders.

In the case of events such as to require during the tenure a period of leave of absence, maternity leave, part-time or specific forms of smart working, the Foundation will seek those solutions that will make the assessment path sustainable.

In case of failure of the tenure path, the Foundation considers itself committed to activate appropriate outplacement actions.

The institutional and scientific governance of the Foundation, by unanimous vote, may propose a named tenure track to scientific personnel from outside or within the Foundation who have won an individual ERC, European Research Council, or international grant of equal prestige.
