Any day away from duty is considered sickness if covered by a certificate. This day is considered, for the purpose of complying with the obligation of both certificate issuance and submission, as the first day of illness.
While on sick leave, workers should stay home: from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the address indicated on the certificate of sickness (including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) for inspection purposes.
Please note that you are eligible for INPS benefits as of the day the certificate is issued. Only if the certificate were issued following a home visit, INPS will determine eligibility for sick leave benefits due to illness for the day prior to certificate issuance, provided that it is duly attested by the physician.
Illness with a prognosis of more than 60 consecutive days.
For such events, prior to the resuming work, the worker shall take a medical examination aimed at obtaining an opinion of fitness by the Foundation’s occupational health physician. To schedule the examination, contact, with at least three working days’ notice, [email protected] indicating the date on which work can be resumed.
⇒ WHAT TO DO
Sick workers should report their condition promptly.
Notification must be submitted by 9 a.m. on the first day of illness or right away, if the absence due to sickness occurs during the working day, on the day on which the event occurs by e-mail to [email protected] or by leaving a voicemail message (0461/314266). The protocol number of the medical certificate, even for one day of illness, should also be submitted as soon as available. In case of sick leave, send only the PUC (Unique Protocol Number) to [email protected], NEVER the diagnosis.
An occupational accident is considered to be any traumatic event deriving from a violent cause while at work, resulting in death or permanent total or partial disability for work, or total temporary disability requiring abstention from work.
Occupational accidents also include the traumatic event occurring to the worker while commuting to or from their place of work.
Compensation for the above event is conditional on the use of public transportation, i.e., the use of private transportation if public transportation does not allow compliance with work schedules. This event must be supported with appropriate certificate (e.g., emergency room and/or primary care physician).
⇒ WHAT TO DO
For both kinds of accidents, be they in the workplace or while commuting, report the accident and the prognosis (onset/end) promptly – possibly within the same day the accident occurred – to [email protected] and [email protected].
