IRIS is the single entry point for publications and serves various purposes:

  • disseminating FBK's research results by making the metadata and data of publications available on the dedicated public portal;
  • effectively managing the scientific production of FBK researchers for internal and external reporting;
  • ensuring the circulation of bibliographic data of publications through connections with external systems such as ORCID and MUR databases.

All FBK researchers are required to enter their scientific production into IRIS as mandated by resolution 3/2015, by accessing the portal with their FBK credentials. The entry can be made by the publication author or any other FBK user.
In addition to bibliographic metadata, it is possible to upload the full text of the publications, selecting an access policy (open access or restricted access to the FBK community only) and a usage license.
Once the research product is correctly entered into the system, it will be displayed on the personal desktop with the status "final," "validated," or "in validation (pending)," depending on the process provided for each type of product.

For some types (e.g., 1.1 Journal Article, 4.1 Conference Proceedings Contribution), metadata validation by Research Assessment personnel is required. This process aims to integrate the entered information and verify its accuracy.

If some of your publications appear as "in validation (pending)," no action is needed; we will review and finalize them. Some records might remain in the "in validation" status for a longer period, pending the availability of additional information (volume, page, DOI, etc.).

Please remember that publications must be entered into each institutional archive; if you have entered publications in other institutions' databases (e.g., IRIS UniTn), they are not automatically shared with IRIS FBK.
