We would like to present the following important new features that will come into effect on October 15th 2024:

  1. Last year we introduced Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) as an additional security measure to protect your accounts and FBK sensitive data. Until now, you were asked the MFA about once a month and only when you were outside FBK buildings. Recent Social Engineering attacks (a technique of cyber-attacks based on the study of people’s behavior with the purpose of manipulating them and stealing confidential information) have highlighted the need to further strengthen security within the Foundation. Therefore, together with the Cybersecurity Center, we concluded that it is necessary to introduce MFA requests also within the FBK buildings, always with a frequency of about 30 days;

  2. Still about the MFA, Microsoft informed us that soon it will no longer be possible to authenticate by phone number. Therefore we ask you to equip yourself with an alternative system, using OTP (an access control system based on a known ID and a password that changes every time, provided by a token on smartphone or PC) via application (Google or Microsoft Authenticator) or browser;

  3. Thanks to the previous additional security measures we can finally announce that the biannual password change will be eliminated: this, in addition to reducing the time for networks and devices' configuration or updating, will prevent you from the trouble to periodically generate and remember new passwords or reset forgotten ones.

We understand that some of these changes may cause some slight discomfort, but as your security is our priority, we believe this is a crucial step to ensure maximum protection of your data and FBK infrastructure.
